British actor John Hurt dies aged 77

Bafta-winning Oscar nominated actor and voice actor John Hurt dies at the age of 77

Known for his unforgettable roles in 'the Elephant Man' and 'A Man for All Season,' John hurt died on Wednesday at his home in Norfolk.

Fred Zinnemann’s 'A Man for All Seasons' won six Oscars at the 39th Academy Awards, and with eight academy award nominations, David Lynch’s 'the Elephant Man' was a success.

Hurt recently starred as Father Richard McSorley in 'Jackie', a biopic of the former US President John F. Kennedy's wife.

Despite being given the all-clear from cancer, last year he pulled out of Sir Kenneth Branagh's production of 'The Entertainer' on the advice of his doctors.

US director Mel Brooks described Sir John as "cinematic immortality", as tributes poured in for the star.
